Practise with a clear purpose
Choose Listening in the practice library and open an available test. Work with a full test or focus your attention on a part. Before playing the audio, read the instructions and predict what belongs in each gap: a name, number, date, place or another type of word.
Separate listening practice from a timed attempt
Use Practice mode to study the recording and understand missed answers. In a Mock session, follow the timer and avoid using answers as you work. On this platform, results from either mode are practice feedback; they do not constitute an official IELTS examination.
Review the reason for each mistake
A wrong answer can come from different problems. You may have missed a correction, written a singular noun instead of a plural, exceeded the word limit, or recognised the meaning but misspelled the word. Label the reason rather than simply copying the correct answer.
- Prediction: Did you know what type of answer you were waiting for?
- Attention: Did the speaker correct an earlier detail?
- Language: Did an unfamiliar phrase hide a familiar meaning?
- Writing: Did spelling, numbers and word limits match the instructions?
Build one shared daily habit
You can combine Reading and Listening in the same daily challenge. For example, spend part of your active practice time on a passage and the rest on Listening. Only foreground, active online practice counts; leaving a tab idle does not complete the day.
Understand the test format
The official IELTS Listening test has four parts and 40 questions, with approximately 30 minutes of recording time. Checking or answer-transfer arrangements depend on the test delivery format. Follow the instructions for the official test you book.
